Fruit ripening time: April - May
Large sized fruit with an intense flavour. The result of a cross between a Jonathan and Golden Delicious, the flavour is honey-sweet with a lot of balancing acidity, which makes it very pleasant tasting indeed.
A medium to large sized apple with a yellow skin base, with bold flushes of red. The flesh is creamy yellow coloured, crisp and juicy.
Can be prone to bitter pit when excessive vigour is encouraged with high Nitrogen fertilisers or excessive Winter pruning.
Uses: Excellent fresh eating. Also great in salads, useful in baking and the sweet-tart flavour lends itself to savoury dishes as well. Can be used in cider blends. Stores well.
Tree Size:
Dwarf: Can be kept to 1.5 m and grown in containers. Must be staked.
Semi-dwarf: 3 - 5 m tall, depending on shape
Pollinators: Akané, Braeburn, Brown’s Apple, Cleopatra, Cripps Pink, Cox’s Orange Pippin, Cornish Aromatic, Democrat, Esopus Spitzenburg, Fuji, Gala, Granny Smith, Improved Fox Whelp, Kingston Black, Northern Spy, Pine Gold Pippin, Red Delicious, Splendour, Tydeman's Early Worcester, Worcester Pearmain, Yarlington Mill and white flowering Crabapples.
Flowering Group 4 and a TRIPLOID variety, producing no viable pollen itself and requiring pollination from 2-3 different pollinators.
