 Fruit ripening time: Late March - April

 

Braeburn has a lovely sweet flavour, a good balance of tart, and a hint of spice. The complex flavour makes an excellent apple pie filling and beautiful fresh eating apple.

 

The skin has a yellow background with an attractive red stripe. The flesh is cream-yellow in colour, dense, crisp and juicy.

 

Originating in New Zealand as a chance seedling, the exact parentage is unknown.

 

Uses: Excellent fresh eating, great for baking and roasting, juice and sauce. Stores well.

 

Tree Size: 

Dwarf: Can be kept to 1.5 meters, and can be grown in containers. Must be staked

 

Semi-dwarf: 3 - 5 meters tall, depending on shape 

 

Pollinators: Akané, Browns Apple, Cleopatra, Cripps Pink, Cox’s Orange Pippin, Democrat, Esopus Spitzenburg, Five Crown Pippin, Fuji, Five Crown Pippin, Gala, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Jonathan, Kingston Black, Northern Spy, Pine Gold Pippin, Red Delicious, Splendour, Tydeman's Early Worcester, Worcester Pearmain, Yarlington Mill and white flowering Crabapples.

 

Flowering Group 4 and self-fertile, however fruitset is improved with a pollination partner
