Fruit ripening time: Late January – February

 

A very crisp apple, with a good balance between sweet and sharp taste. An excellent flavour for an early season apple. 

 

A medium size fruit with a green-yellow skin covered with beautiful red stripe.

 

Akané is the result of a cross between a Worcester Parmain and Jonathan. The tree is vigorous and has moderately good disease resistance.

 

Uses: Best enjoyed fresh, but also useful in baking and will keep its shape when cooked. 

 

Tree Size: 

Dwarf: Can be kept to 1.5 meters and grown in containers

 

Semi-dwarf: 3 - 5 meters tall, depending on shape 

 

 

Pollinators: Braeburn, Browns Apple, CleopatraCox’s Orange PippinCripps Pink, Democrat,Esopus Spitzenburg, Five Crown Pippin, Fuji, Five Crown Pippin, Gala, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Jonathan, Kingston Black, Northern Spy, Pine Gold Pippin, Red Delicious, Splendour, Tydeman's Early Worcester, Worcester Pearmain, Yarlington Mill and white flowering Crabapples.
